Cabo San Lucas is at the tip of the Baja Peninsula in Mexico that hangs just south of California. On one side of the peninsula, you will find the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California) and on the other side, you will find the Pacific Ocean.

The one thing that you’ll need to remember when you travel to the Cabo San Lucas area is that there are actually three different areas to stay. When you travel south on Highway 1 (yes, the same one that travels south in California) from the Cabo San Lucas airport, your first stop will be San Jose del Cabo. San Jose del Cabo is known for its luxury resorts and golfing. Travel south even more and you are in the area called “the corridor”. The corridor, like San Jose del Cabo has all-inclusive resorts, golfing, and is not close to any specific town. Both of these areas also lie on the Sea of Cortez. Travel south just a few miles more and you will be in the heart of Cabo San Lucas. Cabo San Lucas is a small town that straddles the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. Many of the hotels are located on the marina and the beaches that extend out into the Sea of Cortez. If you are looking to spend time in the town, this is the place to be. Expect your typical Mexican fare, shopping, and of course a Hard Rock Café and a Carlos and Charlie’s location.
