One of the top questions our couples ask when heading on to a tropical vacation spot is "What do I pack to wear for meals?"  Nowadays, many of the hotels, all-inclusive or not, have a dress code for meals.  Don't count cruises out either, as they have dress codes too that follow along these same lines.

So, here's a little bit of an explanation on what the different requirements mean.

Casual—Bermudas (long shorts or Capri pants), sneakers, tennis shoes or sandals.  No sleeveless shirts for men.  Ladies must wear a bathing suite wrap or cover up.  You'll typically see this requirement at the buffet for breakfast and lunch.

Casual Elegance—Sneakers/tennis shoes or dress sandals, dress shirts with short sleeves and collared shirts.  No sleeveless shirts or flip flops.  Long pants required for men.  You'll typically see this requirement for sit down lunches and dinners.  This would be typical attire for a dinner "casual night" on a cruise.

Formal—For men, long pants and collared shirts, dress shoes or dress sandals.  For women, blouses, skirts, slacks or dresses and dress shoes.  You'll see this requirement at the nicer sit down restaurants at hotels for dinner.  On cruises, formal means formal.  Men wear suits or tuxedos and women wear semi-formal or formal wear (i.e. nice sundresses, cocktail dresses and formal gowns).
